I'm generally not a fan of superhero films to begin with, but this rose to a whole new level of awful. The story is ridiculous, the music and costumes are a shameless rip off off Star Wars, and considering this movie was made a decade post-Star Wars, the effects are comical. It would be fairly easy to believe this was made in the '60's.
If this was intended to be a tongue-in-cheek parody, it would still be laughably bad. One has to feel sorry that Frank Langella, Meg Ryan and Courtney Cox have their names associated with anything this bad.
15 minutes into this and I knew it was going to be unwatchable. I was correct.

Well...as horror movies go, the premise had potential, but ultimately the execution of this wasn't up to the task.
The most jarring note was that this was obviously filmed in the UK, with British actors attempting (and, to be fair, for the most-part successful) to pull-off American accents doesn't really work when there's a right-hand operated vehicle, and obviously English town, etc.
What sucked the will to enjoy this out of me though, is what dooms so many horror films; when the thing to do is fight, they failed to do so; when the thing to do was run the failed to do so. Even when almost overcome with fear or terror, in the vast majority of people the fight-of-flight response actually works. Why directors of horror films can't bring themselves to accurately incorporate that into the projects mystifies me. Having adults, especially parents, standing frozen in fear, whining and crying and peeing their pants, isn't realist and is infuriating to watch.

If this had been presented as a satire, it would work. Sadly, they think this rubbish is true. I've never seen such a twisted, border-line insane take on science.
How this currently as a four star rating is a mind-numbing mystery. It's proof of how many uneducated, naive and gullible people there are who will believe patently false nonsense.
Every true scientist should be posting reviews, although this is so ridiculous as to not even require debunking. Why someone would chose to believe something that can be proved incorrect through a variety of real-world observations without scientific instruments is shocking.
