If not for the last 3 minutes of this episode, it could have easily been an 8/10, but no, AH-Stories is dead-set on their cardboard-eating logic, content to completely ruin what they've set up by trying to have a shocker ending.
There was so much potential for the episode 'Clone.' So many things could have been done differently, and by "different" I mean quality. This episode was engaging, interesting, then it ruined itself with the "twist" ending.
Many are drawing comparisons to M3GAN, which is fair. It should also be compared to the "Black Mirror" episode 'Be Right Back,' which is 'Clone,' but better.
Immensely disappointing, but that's the standard AH-Stories has been aiming for since its inception. Likewise AHS should be put on trial for their obsessive reliance on the witches storyline, but I digress.
"Clone" gets a 3, only because the first 95% of the episode was well done, characters had depth, the story was engaging. 0/10 scary. To reiterate: watches more like a "Black Mirror" episode, and disappoints just like any other American Horror Stories episode. Writers Ned Martel & Charlie Carver should be ashamed to cash their residuals for this. It seems like whenever AH-Stories is doing a "tech" episode ("The Naughty List," "Aura," "Bestie"), they pass the effort to Max Winkler to direct, which I'll now consider another red flag for the franchise.
