Honestly, I don't know why so many people doesn't like this show. I feel like their evolution as characters is so consistent. Take Miranda as an example: back in SATC it was so cute the first time she met Steve. They had a very real relationship, breaking up and coming back together a few times... when Steve had cancer she was worried even though they weren't together... When Brady was born they joined forces to raise him. Even the moment Miranda proposes to him is realistic but also cute and unexpected at the same time.
That was a happy relationship for quite a while. And that doesn't mean "forever". Every couple who divorces were once a happy relationship as well. As our lives evolves our feelings might change. Until some point that we might almost don't remember what we felt before.
In that sense, I'm simply in love about everything Miranda are becoming now (from the drinking problem to the queerness). I feel like it is all so realistic. I myself have a friend that "became" a lesbian after 40. And even now she knows she spent 4 decades as a happy straight girl. That doesnt change the fact that now she only wants to date women.
I'm saying all that just to use Miranda (who IMO had a special highlight this episode) as an example of how happy I am to see those women evolving, and changing.

First of all, after a pandemic, it all felt very up-to-date. I'm from Brazil and I can say Meryl Streep character is 100% our president dealing with covid and vaccines ("despite all the deaths, can i manage to get some kind of advantage out of it?").
Plus, although I love the genre "apocalypse movie", they never really feels too realistic. This one does. And it makes it with a great sense of humor.
