In honor of Graham Greene who recently passed, I wanted to share a quick reflection on one of my all-time favorite films - Thunderheart. Mystical, spiritual, dark, and enlightening, this movie carries a certain power. The transformation that Ray Levoi (Val Kilmer) undergoes is intense and moving, and I love the chemistry between him and Walter Crow Horse (Graham Greene), who is actually quite funny at times. Both actors deliver amazing performances.
Set against the Badlands of South Dakota, the film's stunning cinematography captures the haunting beauty of this sacred and magical landscape. Thunderheart isn't just a thriller - it's a journey into mystery, identity, and spirit. A powerful film, and one that I will watch again and again.

Boring, muddled story line. Atrocious acting. Annoying characters, especially the son, mother, and boyfriend. The dad is a beta for sure. It felt a bit like a cheesy Christian film trying to be all edgy. If you're looking for scares, not gonna find them here. If you're looking for something deep and meaningful, this ain't it. It feels like it is trying to be like A Ghost Story starring Casey Affleck which is a far superior film.
And that's saying something because Romulus is high on the silly scale. I am soooo disappointed in this series so far. If you have never seen the original Alien film, you might like it. But I don't see how when considering the sloppy writing, and it has none of the signature tension, atmosphere, or brilliant score of the original. It's just goofy so far. Maybe the writers will redeem themselves before it's all over somehow. They certainly have their work cut out for them. We shall see.
Update: Okay, so I survived the entirety of season one, and my initial rating holds. Alien: Earth is an abomination. In fact, this is not Alien at all. They lost me entirely the moment they started treating the xenomorph like a family pet. They teach it to stay and attack. What's next, roll over? Pathetic. And then there's the music at the end of each episode, trying to make the series all edgy and cool. Great songs by Tool, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, etc (all but Godsmack). The only problem is that their usage makes little sense as they are irrelevant to the series and feel completely out of place. Some descent special effects (mixed in w/ some really bad ones) do not help the rating for me. There was one particular scene where the xenomorph actually made me laugh out loud. You heard that right, a xenomorph made me laugh! On and on it goes. Again this is not Alien. If anything, it's Disney's Alien for kids.
