I never hated the ending, but I never loved it either when I read it years ago in the manga. However, after sitting on it for about a week now, I can safely say it's a great ending. Did it set a new standard or is it gonna become one of the best known endings of all time such as breaking bad? No I don't think so, but it is a perfectly fitting conclusion to a series such as this. When people talk about AoT years later, I don't think most of the focus will be on the ending per se, but mainly the absolute juggernaut of a story that came before it. And if that's the biggest criticism I can give the ending, then it is nowhere near a bad or even mediocre ending. It just makes me even more confused how a good chunk of the fanbase managed to weave such a stupid narrative that this ending was on the level of Game of thrones season 8 for example, that it somehow betrayed and destroyed all that came before. When in fact it just made the series all the more brilliant. Most series never get the pleasure of concluding in a way such as this, let alone anime which are known to get extremely rushed towards it's conclusion and get a sub par adaptation. AoT had already cemented itself as an all time classic years ago, and had already created such a beautiful story, so all it had to do was stick it's landing. Did it trip a little before the landing? Yes. Was it a perfect landing? No, it wasn't. However it was a nice beautiful bow to tie up this incredible present of a series. Thank you isayama, thank you all the staff at WIT and MAPPA, thank you for changing my life in ways you couldn't even imagine.

There's nothing else that I can say about this. Not only was this segment adapting 2 of the already most heart wrenching moments from the manga, this anime adaptation managed to bring it to a newer height further beyond. I've seen so many incredible shows in my life time, but for me this was THE best 1 hour of television I have ever witnessed, this genuinely felt like a movie. And now I merely await the finale that comes next fall... I can barely type as my hands fail me. I cannot see as my eyes are drenched in tears... I genuinely have no clue how it can get better than this, but I have been saying this since the very 1st season. Time after time this show always one ups itself. Thank you Isayama, thank you to all the wonderful animators and staff who brought this story to life with such amazing visuals and directing.
