Man I was really excited for more Fear Street after the trilogy Netflix gave us, which I was so impressed with. This did not land AT ALL.
From the musical selection, to the costumes, to the writing and plot: All of it felt extremely lazy. Characters were not believable. You're telling me the popular girl who expects to win prom queen couldn't find a better dress? Two other students had nearly the exact same dresses basically. One was a background actor.
The plot twist was also very uninspired, and unbelievable. No character development. Heavily leaned on CGI. So Rushed. Just so disappointing.

I had high hopes for this. I truly love period pieces, and I was a huge fan of Downton. However I have to admit I wasn't even able to finish the first episode of this, though I really did try to stick it out. It was so boring, so one dimensional. None of the characters were interesting enough that I'd want to keep watching to see more of them. It's all very pretty aesthetically, but underneath the costume and the architecture this show seems hollow and soulless. I'm confused by how bad it is.
I went into this one with very low expectations. I was surprised to find it was so much worse than I expected. None of the "jokes" land, and the laugh track (cringe) only makes it more obvious how unfunny this show really is. At first I was trying to sus out what was off about it but now I'm certain it mostly comes down to the writing, and even to some extent the directing. Francia and Suraj both show potential and Hillary I must say performed better than I expected and I think she could even improve and grow here... Chris on the other hand isn't working. He overacts the most. Between his overacting, the failed jokes, and the laugh track it felt like watching someone bomb at standup for the first time. I wasn't able to move past episode one which already felt like a chore to finish.
