Well I wasn't expecting that!. I was attending a big family celebration last Saturday and had earmarked Sunday as a hangover duvet day(no kids, life is good). So after copious amounts of bacon, ibuprofen, irn-bru and paracetamol, not necessarily in that order, we sat down to argue about what we would watch and which streaming source it would be from.

Having severely overdone my red wine intake the previous day I was in no fit state to argue the case for a Godfather or LOTR marathon so was rather surprised with myself when I blurted out "That 'Rivals' is meant to be good."

What a brilliant show, pure joyful unadulterated adultery. Wonderful emotion and humour throughout. The cast is amazing particularly Danny Dyer and David Tennant.

Would highly recommend as a binge.

There have been many shows over the years that have given me a nice Autumnal Sunday evening hug before the chaos of another working week.

This is definitely my favourite of them all. I'm so glad that I stumbled across it and now frequently recommend it to others saying it's the best thing on TV.

It's a wonderful advert for Britain and Ireland. The shots of the countryside are beautiful. The music is also a huge part of the experience and always perfect . The guests are warmly accepted yet never gushed over. The food they eat is always simple yet looks delicious and they sometimes break the heart healthy rules which gives me a little chuckle.

A truly wonderful bit of escapism, I absolutely love it.
