Guys, Ufotable did it again. People are hating Demon Slayer for how "mid" the story is, but to be honest, that's what's beautiful about it. Not all animes need to be like AOT or have compelling stories to tell. As long as enough care and effort was put into a certain idea, no matter how simple it is then, you'd may just create a masterpiece.
This episode is an excellent example. The animation, the soundtrack, the simple idea on good vs evil, everything. It deserves a spot to be among the best episodes of any anime shows ever. The way the season was building this up too, leading up to this amazing climax (and goddamn cliffhanger), just felt so satisfying, even though at times, it does feel a bit slow.
Can't wait for what Ufotable had in store for us next year with the Infinity Arc. If this episode is just a mere taste of what's coming next, no doubt the upcoming movies will be a damn treat.

This episode wastes no time in grabbing my attention and holding it all the way to the end. Every scene is important, even the common folk scenes.
The dialogues are immersive and doesn't sound weird at all. It's such a pleaser to the ear getting to listen to some Medieval-ish English instead of some basically modernised English like we got in Game of Thrones.
More about the writing of this show, I like where Ryan Condal is directing us so far. As a book reader, I'm always curious to see how they're exactly going to do this particular scene or that one, because the book doesn't exactly have a reliable source. What happened the last episode was proof enough of my statement.
Lastly, the acting. Goddamn, I swear, if this season didn't even get one nomination for Best Actor/Actress this year, I'd riot. This season is where I think their acting skills will shine the most. This episode's highlights are our good ol' Rhys, Olivia, Tom and Phia. They are absolutely marvellous.
Looking forward to episode 3 and the rest of the episodes. Can't wait!

This episode turns out to be quite steadily consistent, in terms of quality. Every single scene does not go out wasted, and have all sorts of plot points that eventually ties up to whole plot in general, which makes the ending of the episode - or rather the concept of it at least - quite more narratively natural and impactful.
Aside from Andy and Danai, who strives as fierce as before, I gotta say, I love Pollyana McIntosh. Her acting shines along with her character, which went from ehh in season 7 to eyy here. I mean, who would expect a non-comic character that came off as weird initially would turn out to be the biggest potential threat to everyone in the TWDU, without the character progression turning out to be jarring and unrealistic?
Lesley-Ann Brandt is great too playing as Thorne. She sure is a much more intriguing character we've ever had for a while. Gotta appreciate the effort the writing crew put in their characters.
So, thus far, out of all the first three episodes, this is the weakest certainly, but oh my how good it stiil is. Now I really can't wait for the last three episodes!
