I was really looking forward to this offering to the franchise and it has left me with mixed ferlings....
Wanting to follow the atmosphere of the original? Ok... I get it, I see the point, but after looking at some of the negative reviews and then watching, I had to agree more with the negative ones.
Being positive, its a great concept for a new Alien production, the acting is 'ok' and as yet we still have to allow for how this story unfolds. But it has started badly with some huge production holes.
As some have mentioned, a large ship barreling out of control towards Earth, in a world of reasonably advanced space travel, some 105 years from now.
No early warning system? Humm unlikely but nevermind. As it crashed into a major city centre thru a massive high rise block, threatening to collapse, it is seen and responded to by a small group of search and rescue, who happen to be taking exercise on a high rise roof nearby. And have no idea what they are facing.
Now in any reasonable reality an event like this would be answered by hundreds of rescue and support personnel and dozens of response vehicles, but no. There a few other supports on seen but basically half a dozen and a Medic go in, arriving in Army style vehicles.... ? Armed with guns very little equipment and Medic carring a small bag.... Oh?
Then the city owning 'Corporation', still not knowing what was in the ship, decide to send in prototype 'synthetic humans' powered by the consciousness of children, totally untrained and worth BILLIONS of dollars each.... Unlikely, you would think.
At this point suspending logic is the kindest thing to do, because it is starting to look a little stupid.
Moving forward (as we are 105 years in the future) the squad armed with what look like Famas assault rifles and Glocks with snazzy torches strapped to them get their asses kicked..... Oh...Lol.... :o)
I can understand wanting to keep the asmosphere of the original, but advanced computers, using old fashioned green screen ray tubes and tablets that look like 'Speak and Spell' toys, plus mobile phones with no screens and big white buttons, left me fealing irritated to say the least....
Lets see where it goes. I dont think these are spoilers as watching the Trailers will obviate most of these things if you are looking..
But so far dissappointed and the good reviews seem powered by over excitement without really thinking.
I thought readers would like a Review that had been thought about... A little.

I dont usually review on this type of show but after following the main series and watching it go downhill I gave up when they showed a reel of what were obviously animals with long tails played backward to make them look like long necked mini dinosaurs (OMG) but I gave this 'New Show' a watch. Wish I hadn't.
Very sad..... They even borrow footage from the main series and explain it differently.
They really need to either find something new or give up.
The media presented is old al;ready worn out on the internet, with suggestions and opinions that are worn out and re-used on pictures we have all seen before.
It used to be a good show, but the only mystery now is why is it still running?

I saw the great reviews for this and decided to go....
By the end of the Movie I was very disappointed. What was everyone watching to review like this? The storyline was very formulaic, David Corenswet looked the part, though his costume was sadly padded. Lois Lane seemed incidental as a character. Supermans parents were the worst casting in the history of the franchise and seemed to lack either character or the likeability we come to know and love about the specialness of his Earth parents.
The story was appalling and ran in a straight line and in many respects was weaker than most of the generic Super Hero shows we see these days. In fact they are better considering.
There was no Ethos and depth as they tried to contrive political drama in a low quality budget Eastern Block Tyrant who was laughable, along with its storeyline.
As for Lex Luther and his contrived Nemesis against Superman, well, that just turns into a huge eyeroll by the end.
There are far better Superman movies. This was one of the worst.
