This is an interesting documentary in as much as the background story of both drivers is of great interest to anyone who grew up watching their fathers. There is some nice archive, especially with Niki Lauda, and it's good to get a sense of what it is like growing up in the shadow of legends. The race element itself is OK, but would have been way better if they had driven their father's cars! One big criticism though is the voice over artist, who has completely the wrong tone of voice and style, he kind of spoils it a bit.
Overall though, worth a watch for the archive and to see how much James' son is like he was.

My wife and I watched this knowing absolutely nothing about this amazing story, and, with that fact in mind, we felt that it did a fantastic job of telling it. I had no ideas of its historical accuracy, and I really don't think that, on the grand scheme of things, it matters, it's a film, not a documentary, and it's not trying to be Saving Private Ryan. Artistic license is allowed you know! I was moved by the story, and moved by the ending especially, with footage of the real battalion and of the main character, still alive today. It has inspired me to read more of the story behind it, and isn't that a good thing? Ignore the pedants who think everything should be 100% accurate, because, unless you were there, you can't be certain if it anyway.
Top notch and we'll worth 2 hours of your time.

Going into this not knowing anything about it or the story I wasn't sure what to expect, with the exception of knowing that Wahlberg is always good. That proved to be the case here, he lead the film's story well, and given his real life injury, made it eminently believable. The story itself is quite remarkable too, but this is where the film suffers to some extent. It's very obvious that there is no way anyone really knows how the dog made his journey, but there are elements of speculation that aren't put across particularly well, one in particular was quite cringe worthy, and I wish the film maker could have focused more on the characters journey in these parts. The background story of the dog is less important than his actual remarkable journey. That is not to say it ruined the film, just knocked a couple of stars off my rating. I also had issues with the Bear Grylls voice over commentary. I know it was actually him, but there was no real tension in his voice, because he wasn't commenting on an actual race at the time. An actor would have been better.
Overall though, it's a very enjoyable, and extremely remarkable story, and I loved the pictures of the real Arthur and owner at the end.
