I mean come on this is some bs no wants to watch an office sequel bro let's come up with something original already. It's like no one knows how to make tv shows anymore it's so crazy guys we need more gun fights and explosions and stuff like that. That would make this tv show a lot better cause this is lame dude.
It seems like this film is criticized mostly by the Captain Marks of the world, the ones who have only been given a hammer in life. Denis Villanueve (Sicario, Prisoners, Dune 1/2/3, Blade Runner 2049) again puts together another Oscar-nominated epic that required no material from other books, films, plays, etc. He is a genuine storyteller and anyone that thinks poorly of this movie should no longer be trusted with film opinions. I was shocked to see so many 5s, 3s, and 1s complaining about a lack of action and how the heptapods (aliens) aren't realistic. Have we gotten that stupid? Do people not look at the version of content (mild/moderate/severe) included in a film before watching? Do people actually know how aliens behave? We could seriously use a visit from outer space because we seem to be devolving.
I love Sandler. I think he's hilarious and highly intelligent. He's a successful businessman who knows exactly what he's doing. His remake of The Longest Yard beats out Goon for my favorite sports comedy. Even if you don't like l it, Uncut Gems is great filmmaking. All that to say, when is Adam Sandler going to stop force feeding his viewers celebrity and athlete cameos in his films? The answer is: when viewers stop tuning in to see their favorite player or popstar. He knocked it out of the park with Irvin/The Longest Yard, but as his career has progressed, he's used more and more cameos to carry the movie, and it usually takes away from any actual plot or writing. Hustle (while a solid, original movie) is his greatest example. He picked out some of the most recognizable NBA celebrities to attract the largest audience. Now I'm not looking for Oscar-winning screenplay material in a sequel to Happy Gilmore, but Travis Kelce and Bad Bunny were just too much. The movie's methods of drawing attention to itself were tacky, and the cameos weren't funny in the slightest. It should've relied on the name and legacy alone, but instead we have another classic film tainted by a dumb sequel.
