Decent, weirdly flawed in logic most of the runtime, unfortunately. It also makes absolutely zero sense with the removal of the Engineer dialogue, rendering it an unfinished product and pointless, they clearly took the only reason the movie existed in the first place and someone gave this abomination a greenlight, pure insanity. Alien executives are worse than Weyland Yutani at this point, ruining the franchise since 92. And it cannot be the same lame ass dude because those movies are old af therefore it's yet another spawn of the antichrist ruining my favorite movie franchise. Yall absolutely murdered art.
So this is basically a bad fanfic written by someone who didn't understand alien at all and wanted to make a shocking raw movie while turning all the allegories to trauma literal, essentially creating another art, which would work on another universe, but not with what was established in the others. This absolutely murdered the aesthetic the previous movies established, as well as the character of Ripley, it's like someone made all the monsters in Silent Hill humans but kept the fog on and then jumpscared the final bose into it, what is this even about ? The monster is already an allegory to SA, that is the embodiment of trauma, supposed to portray a predator as a disgusting monster ( which they are, by the way ) then you proceed to make an SA attempt... by humans ? I swear i was more tense on this because of Ripley being a woman than the Alien itself, which is why the first movie was made in the first place, you literally made humans worse than the Alien, it's just insane. We're used to antagonists in the franchise, but not when they replace what the main threat and horror of the movie truly means. Ripley suddenly wants to have a partner when she never went after that, just so we have sEx in the movie, because it's eDgY. ( and to justify Ripley's suicide as well ) the Aliens look terrible most of the time, some of the characters are good but the dialogues are insanely bad, rendering them mostly cringe than cool, unfortunately. The Weyland Yutani crew is heavily unprepared, specially when dealing with the thing they desired the most, it's pure insanity. They just disrespected the previous characters to make an awfully bad movie that makes a parody of Ripley that mimics what's good about her at times but ultimately fails to understand her fundamentally as a character. Also the ending was absolutely DOGSHIT.
The only thing i can give this is that it portrays an even more androgynous Ripley, which aligns well with her character design, that's the only actual progress it makes, her hair gets shorter with each movie, other than that... regress. Horrible movie. It's decent at times but it ultimately betrays and spits on the face of one of the best franchises ever. Shouldn't exist, this makes Romulus look like a masterpiece and Covenant tolerable. It's just better than Ressurection, and that's insane to say.
