I was very leery as most modern remakes or prequel/sequels today are just sooo bad. I was presently surprised though. It started from the shows intro, they did a very good job of casting with the actor playing the young Dexter could pass as an actually son. Actually all of the characters are cast pretty well with the exception of the "Deb" character, she is pretty terrible. The actress they cast doesn't resemble her and can not deliver a line correctly. They wrote her dialog well, just the actress does not deliver it with the right attitude or timing. This is a minor distraction though as overall it's worth a couple more episode to see if they blow it or not.

Cute idea and a pretty competent actress doing her best to pull it of. The problem is the the terrible writing that seems to be plaguing Hollywood today. The plots are brain dead and the police procedures are the worst if seen since Dragnet. The writers or their researchers do a lot of work to research the main characters "genius", why can't they spend a few minutes to research how police actually do the job. In the latest episode the Lieutenant claimed the they could not issue an Amber alert for 24 hours in a suspected parent abduction case. I mean come on, that old nugget of misinformation has not been used on TV for years. I simple Google search would have given them all the criteria for an Amber alert in a few seconds. Such laziness will kill a potentially decent show.

This is my first "Marvel" anything. I was never able to disbelieve reality enough to find super hero anything but foolish, so I avoid all the Marvel movies, however. This appeared to be more sci-fi than super hero and it had Samuel "MF" L. Jackson! People seem to be offended that he sits a lot but I see that as part of the plot. His character is old, worn out, and been in low gravity for an extend period of time, I'd sit a lot too.

The acting is not top shelf but not bad either. The biggest surprise for me is Olivia Colman though. I would not have thought her as a comedic actress, but she can deliver a perfectly timed bit of dry wit with the best of them. The "torture" scene was the best thing so far and only do to Colman.

All in all I say give it a chance, particularly if your are not a Marvel fan.
