Episodes like this are what allow viewers to understand the emotional bonds and dynamics between characters. Beautiful storytelling, visuals, soundtrack, and acting that make you remember the show as more than just a story about survival.
Good episodes keep you engaged throughout, but great episodes make you understand each characters' actions, empathize with them, and make you question what your own decisions would be. E6 is another great epsiode in the series that accomplishes this.
As someone who didn't play the game, I do appreciate the way the show adds depth to the story with flashbacks like these.
