This is one of the most thrilling, suspenseful, and engaging television shows I've seen in quite some time! It felt such a surprise finding out that there would not be a continuation of the series after the first season, but at least they were able to (mostly) wrap it up. The paranoia through out the show keeps the viewer on the edge of the seat, and the acting is top notch. I will never understand how such an interesting show didn't get re-upped.
This is an excellent documentary series that shows you everything you might want to know about the WWE and professional wrestling, however, it breaks kafabe so I can't give it the full 10 stars as the entire series is basically a spoiler. I'm really impressed with the level of insight the WWE gave into its latest storylines, and it was interesting to see the way stories can change.
Let me start by saying I enjoyed the movie a lot. I was grateful for the hopeful, naive, leveled Clark Kent, but he wasn't that all of the time. In fact, when pushed as Superman he was angry, explosive and emotional. Very different from the calm controlled version he is meant to be.
And I LOVED the side heroes, except when they seemed to have an easier time with Luthor's lackeys than Superman. He almost felt weaker and less than most, if not all of the other metas in the movie.
And I get it. The theme is about Superman being more man than Kryptonian, and definitely more human than the evil, cold-hearted Lex Luthor. But Superman isn't a man, he's SUPERman, and though there were times he felt great, they were always at insignificant moments and never when the story was on the line.
The story, by the way, was probably the weakest part of this film. The massive world ending moment seemed completely throw away and almost completely uncared for by Superman who HAD to come help, but also has no way of helping. That's bad writing. The plot must make sense (yes, even in a superhero verse) and the protagonist needs to care about it. Or else the audience won't. That's not the only bad writing either. The romance angle doesn't feel right and several lines are said that no one would really say for the sake of exposition, even by the genius Luthor.
When it is all said and done I will say the casting was spot on, especially Green Lantern, Lex Luthor, Superman, and Mr. Terrific. They were all in and did great. I just think the big threat was poorly done, the exposition was too obvious, and Superman doesn't get to be SUPER. He just feels like a really good man. Which maybe that's what they were going for, but it isn't who the character is. Superman is SUPER, but chooses to be the really good man anyway. That choice gets lost when he doesn't get to be super.
