Well after watching this, I can safely say the 1st movie is much much better.
While I hoped for this to be just as good, I wasn't expecting much with how long it's been since Sandler has been in a good comedy (15+ years) and that it's also a Netflix movie.
The movie puts everything on the back burner; story, comedy, characterization, and acting, all so you can point at people on screen and say you know who that is. At times it didn't even feel like an actual movie, felt more like I was watching some celebrity red carpet event.
While some don't like the Maxi golf idea, I think it had good potential, but they never explain any of the rules. I also feel like the "villain" could have been a lot more over the top and eccentric, but it was just a normal dude.
Shooter McGavin was easily my favorite part. I think it would have been funny if they had him have a breakout scene out of the asylum where he's going crazy and taking down a bunch of guards.

If you like Gotg 2 or The Suicide Squad, this is more of the same, if you don't like those films I would skip this.
People have really been hyping up a movie where Superman gets his ass beat every fight, is packed full with lazy reused marvel jokes, and has lots of the weird comic book stuff?
I have read a good amount of comics, but being forreal a lot of dc/marvel comics have nonsensical writing and dumb ideas that really don't need to be translated into a film. Like inderdimensional mind controlled ragebait monkeys.... just why?
Weird stuff like this that is just weird for the sake of it without any thought behind why it exists is part of why I can't get behind Gunns superhero movies. After gotg 1 he can't help but break any serious and emotional moments with a joke.
I was somewhat enjoying the movie up until around halfway before they introduced technology that i'm just so tired of seeing in hero films. And this technology makes the stakes way too big imo for the movies own good. It ends in a way that doesn't make sense and the 'final conflict' doesn't even involve an actual enemy for Superman to fight.
Another issue I had is that, while this luthor bears the most resemblance to the standard comic look, and jas the general personality of luthor, he still isn't as cold and calculating and cool under pressure as he ought to be. 70% into the movie he is just running on pure emotions and throws all his planning and intellect out the window.
I liked Mr. Fantastic and Guy Gardner the most out of the characters.
Also Superman does kill in this, but apparently that's a non-issue now?
