I just needed something warm and fun, and this movie is exactly that. A simple school romance, sweet and innocent, with a great cast that seems to click really well. You shouldn't watch it for Cha Woo-min, though, he has like three minutes screen time. Of course, the plot is not surprising. If you want plot twist and lots of drama, it's not the right movie for you. But that's quite obvious from the start, I didn't expect anything more than a nice teen love story, and the movie delivers that perfectly.
I had much fun watching it, with laughter and giggling and a few tears as well. Especially the group of friends is just so funny, I really loved them and their chaotic, supportive friendship. They could have dived a bit deeper into the characters and their stories, but you can only do so much in two hours.
I already watched the movie twice (yes, it was this kind of a weekend). It's just the perfect comfort watch whenever you need it, overall very well done.

This first two to three episodes weren't doing it for me. The start of the series is chaotic, supporting characters were annoying for me at first, and the plot felt over the top. I mean, beer isn't interesting to me at all. But I like Kim Se Jeong, and the premise of the show - what it means to not fit into the concept of normal and socially defined gender roles - was intriguing enough to keep me hooked. After all, beer and toxic masculinity kind of go hand in hand, it makes sense to choose this setting when you think about it.
Passing the first episodes, even the initially annoying characters started to grow on me, and the two main characters are just amazing: warm-hearted, a bit broken, likable, but not without flaws. I love a totally non-toxic, attentive male lead and a tough female lead (and I mean really tough, I totally believe the ex-Special Forces part, the way she dresses and walks gives her character real depth). All I need from a RomCom is, apart from good characters, some laughter and a heart pounding love story, and with an empathetic green flag male lead like this, your heart beats with his every time he looks at her. Honestly, the way he talks and observes and portrays feelings, Lee Jong Won delivers his hyper sensible character close to perfection. I like slow building romance, and for me, the pacing was perfect, and the kisses are worth the wait (which says a lot for a Kdrama, we all know that).
Rarely enough, RomComs portray healthy relationships with genuine care for each other and honest communication (or rather the necessity of honest communication in a relationship), and although some details could have been done better, I still enjoyed the love story after the two main leads got together. Their problems aren't forced; they make sense for the characters.
Still, even with only 12 episodes, the last two are a bit lacking. The main story about launching a new beer drags on too much instead of shifting the focus more to the character development and the ending. It's still a good watch, just not as intense as the middle part, with a few issues just glossed over.
I genuinely enjoyed the show, even though it's not perfect. The side stories balance out the plot well without overdoing it, and the love story delivers what I need from it. I love the two leads and their relationship, the portrayal of gender roles and how the show questions normality. With this in mind I can look over the less interesting main plot and the weaker first and last episodes and just enjoy watching the love story unfold.

I love food. I enjoy cooking most of the time. Althoug the premise of the show isn't anything new, it was interesting enough for me to start watching it because, well, food. And cooking. I don't look for groundbreaking new ideas in what's supposed to be a light-hearted comedy romance.
It is light-hearted. Bit too much at times, but that's personal preference. Then, the romance. I like both actors, especially Go Min-si. A few minutes of them together on screen and I already feared I would have to imagine the chemistry myself. My fear wasn't wrong. It's always a downer when you can't feel the romance in a romance movie, you just know it's supposed to be there.
Some things in the plot don't make much sense, you just have to believe that participants in a competition can be part of the jury at the same time. Hope that's not really how things are done in Korea.
Still, I finished the series, mostly while cooking. The way it portrays how much love and energy can go into cooking just one dish is really nice to watch, and parts of the story and some characters are enjoyable.
