I remember seeing this movie about a long time ago and since most of the recollections about the movie were vague, I decided to give it a rewatch. The movie is not everyone's cup of tea. It is very intense and some of the scenes are very hard to watch. Still, if you can somehow have the guts to watch such movies, it's a pretty good one of the lot. The performances are good, the characters believable and it succeeds in keeping you on the edge till the very last moment. The cinematography is beautiful, given the location where it was shot. Do give it a watch, if you can handle extreme violence and scenes of uncomfortable nature, but are looking for a perfect thriller.
I wasn't expecting much from this as it was a Varun dhawan's movie, but the movie surprised me on all fronts. First of all, the cinematography is just beautiful. Never knew Arunachal Pradesh is this beautiful. One would definitely want to visit the state after watching the movie. Coming to plot, it exists, which itself is a big thing considering most warewolf movies are just about a guy/gal getting bitten by a warewolf and the whole movie revolves around him/her trying to get back to normal. But this movie was different, it actually had a meaning behind Varun's transformation into a warewolf and the writing is consistent till the end. Coming to performances, Deepak dobriyal stole the show with his comedy timing. I don't remember laughing this much in a bollywood movie, all thanks to Deepak. Some scenes literally had me rolling on the floor laughing. Varun and Kriti are okayish but they are still watchable. Another area where the movie has shined is the VFX. The VFX are just stunning and will put some other big names of bollywood to shame considering its overall budget is 60 crores only. Most remarkable were the Varun's transformation scenes to warewolf and the final sequence. All in all, a must watch no matter if you're a fan of the horror comedy genre or not.
Veronica has a lot going on for it: a phenomenal performance by a young cast, a background score which adds tension to the atmosphere and some mind-blowing camera work which will send shivers down your spine. But all of the above still doesn't justify the rave reviews and the rating it has got. The plot isn't anything special, the film is about demonic possession and the good performances and camera work make it watchable at least once. But the element of horror is exaggerated, it's certainly not the scariest movie on Netflix as claimed by some. It's a decent watch but nothing out of the ordinary.
