I wasn't disappointed by things that upset some users. Because it's, as the title suggests, a 'Kollective' of young journalists linked by the desire to put truth to lies, it wasn't a surprise that music & visuals weren't "big screen" callibre. It's gritty storytelling done in a realistic rather than cinematic way. I was looking for a break from the 24/7 abhorrent news & was pleasantly surprised to find it in a TV Series; on network & streaming that was believable, not flash & glam. All I can say is, the characters were believable, it's shot in places not usually seen, and it kept my interest from Ep.1 through 6. It's good to know it's been renewed. I hope it won't sacrifice grit for glam. It doesn't need it.
In a happy coincidence I started watching Thr Pitt after seeing it was nominated for multiple Emmys. I was expecting a formulaic medical series. It isn't. Noah Wyle as Dr. Robinovich (Dr Robby) is the head of the ER, in a tour de force character. The actors in this cast form a team that, despite a boggling array of plot twists & turns, manage to form a cohesive unit. Without going into detail, character by character, suffice to say this is an above average, well-researched medical proceedural, that manages to find cohesion in chaos. Is it worth the watch? Definitely! Hope Season 2 won't be too long off!
I've followed Kathy Bates in her new series, Matlock, and I'm so glad I have. The December 13th episode today left me knowing how much I appreciate Kathy's Inspired interpretation of 'Maddie'. Maybe it's because I'm 77, that I can relate to a character who is taking on a new challenge. Or maybe it's that Kathy is as fine an actress as she's always been. I've appreciated her every role. I hope she's nominated for an EMMY for Matlock, she deserves it. Although it's a terrific ensemble cast, she brings the 'real' to the role. Kathy Bates is entirely relatable. The cat and mouse between who she is, and who the office believes she is, has led to some hilarious if somewhat precarious moments! I'm hoping enthusiasm for this Matlock, and Kathy Bate's role in particular, will give rise to more seasons. She's eminently worth it.
