Amazing dramatisation of the history of the Guinesses. For everyone who is not acquainted with the influence this family had over the modern history of Ireland as we know it - this piece of opulent television series might be able to shed a bit of light on it. Amongst historical inaccuracies it still manages to shine a light on the complex relationship between the necessities of survival under the British rule and the start of the urge to strive for independence based on Irish traits such as hard work and a strong sense of belonging. My only concern is that people who are not familiar with Irish history might find themselves in over their heads.
Very watchable action flick with Statham back to his roots. The general concept of beekeepers is intriguing, although could do with some depth and better writing. Some of the acting was less than mediocre but added a layer of (probably unwanted) comedy. The movie's runtime flew by which is always a good sign for popcorn cinema. The end was very foreseeable and leaves plenty opportunity for sequels. I for one would wish that the concept lives on with Stayham at the helm albeit with better stories and more rounded and more complex characters. It will probably never reach the production value and excellence of John Wick but should provide with good old action cinema and tons of fun if the comedic potential is going to be exploited more.
I am really open to all shenanigans, but this was unimaginative, acted badly and the story was completely incoherent. After a somewhat promising lukewarm start it just descended into nothingness.
Manila Monroe did her best to add a bit of acting towards it, but it wasn't enough. Nicolas Cage unfortunately was Completely consumed by his silly mask and one could have put any Hollywood star behind it without making a difference. So disappointing. Again a movie that was hyped by a clever marketing campaign and will be forgotten in a heartbeat. The only positive were the sometimes aesthetic and atmospheric camera shots.
