I have been waiting for this since i watched the trailer.
I am old enough to remember the original series with Richard Chamberlain in the 80's.
Never read the book so cannot say if this version or the 80's one is true to it but from the first episode i am sucked in.
The scenery/cgi and period costumes are great and i like that the Japanese are speaking Japanese with subtitles as i enjoy things in their original languages. Shame the Portugese speak English but its a minor thing.
The lead actors are great(I especially enjoy Hiroyuki Sanada's work)and the English cursing always amuses my childish self.
Anyway i am looking forwrd to the rest of the episodes.

Another butchering of history by the bbc.
If you know your history about the SAS and its founding this is not for you. No build up to the main characters either as Paddy was a well known rugby player and solicitor before the war.
Read a book or watch an old documentary as it will be better for your sanity.
The music choices sucked hard to me personally(most of it would be on my playlist but not in a 1940's setting).
I gave it the stars for the acting,scenery and props as they were convincing.
I take it the love and romance were just fillers to drag it out over so many episodes.
If you have six hours to waste and want some fighting and explosions then this might be for you.
I expect nothing less from the bbc and i am glad i do not pay for it.
