The film has the amazing direction you'd expect from Fincher, the cinematography is amazing, the sound design is out of this world and the plot is simple but effective. Unlike some people I do think this film has a lot of substance to it it just may not be as overt as fight club or Se7en. It doesn't have the emotional lunch of those films either but what it does have is a unique style, tense atmosphere and horrifying realities about our world that keep it engaging and enjoyable throughout. There's one fight scene in the middle that is unbelievably nail biting that will hook anyone who wasn't already engaged. The reason I don't think some people will love it like me is that it's not action heavy like John wick and in the killer you follow a quite frankly evil sociopathic protagonist. I don't have a problem with that though because it suits the theme and message of the film. And yes we've seen a character like him many times before but we've never followed them as the lead and really delved into their headspace which is something I think helps this film stand out.
People are seemingly being overly harsh on this series either because it's not the boys or they didn't want a boys spin off but in my opinion this is infact a good ass show. If people don't like it that's fine but I think they're being too hard on it, the show has a unique premise, it expands the world of the boys, it has unique and deep characters, it has endings that make you want to watch the next episode as soon as possible and it has all the gore and weirdness that makes the boys so different. Obviously gore isn't enough to make something good so it's genuinely backed up by some great writing. People are calling the main character unlikable but everything she does whether it's bad or good has an understandable reason behind it. It's something a normal person should easily be able to emphasize with. It's not the boys good but that doesn't mean it's not good at all. It's still an incredibly good watch.
This was a phenomenal end to an amazing series. It was filled with tension, emotion and has so many moments that made my bum hole clench. I have loved this show so much and am so happy to see it end so well. As with every episode the acting, directing, script and production is the most phenomenal on television. Kendall is now my favourite character surplanting Tom but they're all so good. It was devastating to say the least. How they managed to make such an amazing season without Logan I don't know but season 4 is in my opinion the best season of television, better than s1 of true detective, and this show is the best piece of fiction.
