I hated every minute of this trainwreck of a so-called "standup" performance.
First of all they released this low budget, B-category, VIDEO standup (not TV special) on streaming services as a new content ONLY because Lycett nowadays appeared in "LOL: Last One Laughing UK", and they instantly wanted to release something with this guy to show everybody: he's indeed a famous comedian and he deserved to be a contestant in LOL UK.
Well, after watching this awful cr*p of a so-called standup from this guy, I have to say I'm not convinced at all. Actually I hate him even more and I consider him even LESS funny.
This standup is outrageous, disgusting, distasteful, irritating and unfunny at the same time.
98% of the jokes are old, corny, lame.
99% of the jokes are just plain disgusting for the sake of being disgusting.
The reason of I felt disgusted: Because this guy totally overdoes, overacts the fact that he's being gay. I'm not homophobic. I like a lot of gay/lesbian comedians. For example Ellen DeGeneres. She's hilarious, she's likable and a very cute person. There's nothing wrong about her, and especially there's nothing disgusting about her.
But Joe Lycett spends 99% on stage by acting like a creep, he's like "perv uncle" who everybody hates because the only thing that makes him happy is when he can shock/freak out other people with disgusting/tasteless jokes.
I found this standup performance so tasteless, the performer very disturbing in so many ways, that I had to stop watching the movie after about 20 minutes, because I felt angry, disgusted and insulted.
I think this man shouldn't perform anything live and shouldn't do ANYTHING in the comedy scene, because he's a very dislikeable person and to say it plainly:
He's not funny enough to be a comedian.
He's just a creep in strange clothes, nothing more.

I don't understand the negative reviews about this movie. I think the people who wrote those either haven't even watched the entire movie or they just want to ruin the reputation of it.
Actually this is a very good movie.
The visual execution, monsters, places and the world the story is set in are similar to Annihilation (2018) and "The Last of us" TV show. (Both of them are very successful, so how could this be so bad?) The monsters in Gorge are unique and their world is visually stunning. The special effects team was really creative about it.
About the romance genre in this movie: I wouldn't call this a romance/thriller/sci-fi movie.
There is romance in it, but just a very few moments. It's enough to make the two main characters much more likeable and to show the watchers that there is a strong bond between them, but romance is not a main genre in this movie at all.
The main genres are:
Horror, Sci-Fi and Action!
The performance of the two main characters are very good. There's nothing wrong with that!
The directing is also flawless in my opinion.
The suspense is there, so it's definitely not boring.
There are twists in the movie so it's also not weak or "meh" category.
To the people who have read a lot of reviews about this movie without actually watching it, I would say: Go and watch it! It's a good one! Definitely suspenseful, sometimes funny and entertaining. Yes, it could be better of course, but remember, guys, it's 2025! Nowadays it's really hard to tell anything new, because all the movies and novels are a bit similar to the earlier good ones.
So, compared to other movies in 2025 this movie is VERY GOOD!

I agree with most of the good reviews to a certain point:
The acting is indeed brilliant in this show: 10/10! Very authentic and believable. It's almost like watching reality TV or a real life documentary. Sometimes it's hard to believe it's just fiction. So, this part was perfect. I agree: most of the actors deserve an award for their outstanding performances.
Which I didn't like in this show: The LACK of "viewer discretion" warning at the beginning of each episode!
Because this show is definitely not just a crime story/crime show. That's about 10% of it. And 90% is real-life drama including depression, suicidal thougths, bullying, scenes about very disturbing mental states that are too authentic to be entertaining. They are authentic and brilliantly performed, but were definitely too much for my nerves and my stomach to be honest.
After watching this show I felt totally depressed, bad, I felt horrible to live in a society like this.
That feeling (which I could call "aftertaste" or aftereffect) would've deserved a huge warning about viewer discretion, because I mainly enjoyed this show only because of the good directing and performance, but I felt bad after watching it (actually regretted watching it)!
I have enough problems in my private life, I don't need more depressing thoughts. I never watch depressing movies and shows. I thought this would be an interesting serial killer/crime show with a teenage psychopath or something like that.
But I've never thought how depressing it could turn out at the end!
