Scooby-Doo has been an avid part of my cinema-loving life--I try every show I can. Some have hit it just right, some are almost there, some haven't come close to that good ol' Scooby-Doo feeling. This one definitely fits in the first category! I was skeptical at first but the cast has been a good combo in other Scooby ventures (of course, it's beautiful still hearing Frank Welker kill it as Fred after 50 years). While I like Scooby-Doo with lots of character growth and plot, it's a long-standing tradition with the series that dimension isn't always necessary. This one does just that, and it feels so much like "The New Scooby-Doo Movies"!! Yes, the humor is updated, but the nostalgia and silliness, the wit and amazing mix of guest stars really touches base with the old-school feeling of Scooby-Doo. It's a bit flatter than a lot of newer Scooby storylines, but that's the beauty of it--the point revolves around learning things about the guest stars and it being more of classic variety show stylings than episodic, story-driven plot. Definitely good for the nostalgia feels; great for taking it an episode at a time, doesn't carry into each other or take itself seriously. Just the right amount of simple fun.
