I like Rosie Perez and she shines in this movie. Once I got used to the time change from "the night" to the present day it became very easy to follow even though I had to read the subtitles.
I enjoyed it so much I binge watched it, often rewinding to catch details and verbiage I missed. Watching the teen "take on the world" ideal versus real adult life was very interesting capturing what happens to your dream life doesn't happen if everything doesn't fall into place.
Don't let the naysayers stop you from watching, form your own opinion. Get past the first few episodes, it takes a bit to get started, but watching the plot and then the added subplots play out is worth the wait.
