This episode alone makes me lower my overall score for the series. I'm not sure why they decide to slow things down when the stakes are at the highest. With lore flashbacks for one of two characters who both haven't really been highly involved in the overall plot until this point. It came off as really forced to be honest. Those characters were ignored the whole and they are finally getting some TLC. I really think they could have done that sooner and not slowed the momentum this season had. Because this season is the best so far. That's all I really have to say. I know a majority may disagree but im now less excited for next weeks episode. Regardless I know its gonna bounce back and finish strong, and will still remain in my list of favorite anime series.
Not a lot of slasher movies can get a reaction out of me, but this is one of them. The gore and special effects are well done. It's detailed to the point where it can even make you uneasy. I've heard of people not being able to withstand the gore and I can see why. If you've seen the first one you know the story follows the story of a sadistic clown, they call Art. What I think improves in this movie is that he actually has someone who can rival him. Let's say she's the hero of this story. I enjoy how the tension builds between that leads up to the final act. It feels like the movie actually has a story that goes somewhere instead of just being Art and whatever he pleases to do. You never expect much from slasher horror movies but this movie offered more than I thought it could.
I love fantasy shows and this IP is my favorite, I like it more than GOT. However, the execution of this leaves much to be desired. The books came first, and the videogame opened the IP to a bigger audience. Both are very well written. This shows is not. It doesn't stick to the source material and the things they do add is hard to keep the viewer intrigued. (For example, the Ciri/monoliths story that is very boring and unnecessary.) The positives of the show are Henry Cavill and his accurate depiction of Geralt of Rivia. Some action sequences are well done, like the battle in the end of the first episode. But the writers of this show feel like they can do better than the original author and it's easy to see that is the cause of the decline of this show. As a Witcher fan who came before the show. It leaves much to be desired. I don't see The Witcher making it past 4th season, and it was intended to have 8.
