Reality is a masterclass in tension and subtlety, elevated by Sydney Sweeney's outstanding performance. Sweeney brings an incredible depth to her portrayal of the titular character, capturing a mix of vulnerability, resilience, and quiet intensity. From the very beginning, the film immerses the viewer in a disorienting atmosphere, creating a sense of unease and intrigue. The audience, like the protagonist, is left grappling with the ambiguity of the situation as details are slowly revealed. This narrative approach keeps the tension high throughout, making every interaction and revelation feel impactful. Reality is a gripping experience that thrives on its minimalist yet effective storytelling, and Sweeney's nuanced acting is undeniably the heart of the film.
As a French viewer, I was only familiar with the lead actor of Boiling Point, but I was pleasantly surprised by the entire cast's performances. The acting is exceptionally intense, making every scene gripping and emotionally charged. Filmed in a single continuous take, the movie is a technical marvel that maintains an unrelenting sense of tension and urgency. The immersion is so seamless that time seems to race by.
Having spent some time working in kitchens myself, I found the portrayal of workplace dynamics and escalating pressures strikingly accurate. The film brilliantly captures how minor frictions or unexpected setbacks can spiral into full-blown chaos during a stressful evening service. This authenticity, paired with bold and innovative filmmaking, showcases the remarkable craft of British cinema, which continues to impress me.
If I had one critique, it would be the film's runtime. With an additional 15 to 20 minutes to further develop certain storylines and characters, Boiling Point could have reached even greater heights. Nonetheless, it's a film I wholeheartedly recommend. Bold single-take productions like this are a rarity, proving that sometimes the simplest concepts can yield the most powerful results.

Compared to the trailer, it has nothing to do with it. Acting that lives up to the casting, very accurate special effects with a nice touch of humor that is rarely found in films these days. The last one that had this humor was Bullet Train.
I think everything is successful, there are beautiful sets, quite a few twists, certainly it is not the film of the year but it is still a nice surprise.
The first time I saw the trailer I said to myself: "there are really people who will pay to go see this" and after seeing the reviews I finally let myself be tempted, I have no regrets.
Finally, it is not at all mandatory to know the history of the video game to appreciate the film.
