"I work for a government agency. I don't torture people." LMFAO
The Accountant finally embraced what it was trying to be. Good opening sequence. From the very first shot, you can tell this is an improvement from the first. Still not a fan of the exposition but the pacing and cinematography is greatly improved.
The first film did a better job of visually showing his autism in the cinematography. The action from the first film felt realistic while the second felt like an action movie (neither being bad). I'm glad with this film, they realized scenes don't need to be 20 minutes long. It didn't suffer from Jon Bernthal's absence in the beginning. The story was captivating enough to work without him and work even better with him.
The bar sequence was incredibly fun. Then we cut to Medina who was incredibly obnoxious in the second half. "I'm gonna do this the legal way." *Gets into a knife fight with the antagonist.*
My favorite sequence in the first film was the farm hostage situation, and in the second film, the sequence was my favorite.
The amount of time that I was bored in the first film, was the same amount of time I was entertaining for the second. This film wasn't very entertaining. I'm basically gonna lie to myself and say that this is Batfleck's solo film featuring the Punisher.

I appreciate the tone and switch, but I found the midpoint the most captivating. If the entire movie kept that energy, I believe the film would've improved significantly. Cinematography was pretty good. Weirdly enough, I thought the dialogue was good and the exposition terrible. It was disturbing seeing what happened to Jean Smart's character. Ben was more like Bruce Wayne in this movie than any Snyder movie. There were moments where JK Simmons was more like Gordon in this than in Justice League. Anna Kendrick is an underrated actor as well. Little side note and I hope it doesn't make me look like a psychopath. I wish there were more deaths in films where characters get shot and people move on like it was nothing. Happened towards the end of this film and in the beginning montage in Thunderbolts. To summarize, this was one of the most boring films I've seen in a minute.
Also Daredevil and Punisher!!!
Also Daredevil and Punisher!!!
*This review did not take the transphobic tropes, harmful stereotypes, inaccurate accents, cloned AI voices, racism from the actors, and lack of research into consideration. To focus on the film alone, I will speak only on the story and the movie on a technical level. Don't get mad at me. I didn't make this movie.*
THE ACADEMY THINKS THIS WAS BETTER THAN DUNE 2????????! 13 OSCAR NOMINATIONS???😀🔫
THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A MUSICAL. Every time I started to become invested, a song would take me out of it. Zoe Saldaña was good. Selena Gomez was terribly miscast. And Karla Sofía Gascón was incredible, especially as Emilia but believable as both. Adriana Paz, who I believe was the only Mexican actor in the film, played Epifanía well. With that said, I did like "El Mal."
The first act had pacing issues and abrupt transitions but I was still hooked. I immediately felt like I knew who Rita was, but that was the result of Zoe's performance more than the writing.
Speaking of the writing, the second act slowed down and felt directionless. The missing people storyline came out of no where, especially since Emilia murdered many people. Also why did the movie ignore the fact that Emilia murdered many people and is still a criminal?
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the third act. The idea that you can't escape your violent past so easily, is a point I wish they tried to make more often. Great score. Great acting. Good songs (besides the hospital ones). But too many unnecessary camera movements. The directing was poor and it was overall visually ugly.
Not that this is an uncommon opinion, but several of the Oscars this film received were not deserved.
I hope this film turns into the play it was meant to become as well, and is done properly.
