I cannot understand the negative reviews, for crying out loud when you watch the original the acting was crap the special effects were crap but it was and remains a classic which is still enjoyable 72 years after it was made, for me this new version kept me gripped every minute and I thought it was pretty cool. Yes it was corny and cheesy which was pretty much like the original and I was thoroughly entertained.
I came across this film by accident and I have to confess I'd never heard of it however I did enjoy it even though it has lots of similarities to For A Few Dollars More. Firstly the main villian is one of Indios cronies in FAFDM, the bank heist almost identical in the said movie and lots of other similarities, of course Lee Van Cleef plays Colonel Mortimer with Clint Eastwood as Manco which is obviously replaced with John Philip Law as Bill, there is even one of the villains with a long scar over his eye just as in FAFDM. Even when the heroes are been beaten the villains are alllaughing their heads of as in FAFDM and A fistful of dollars, all in all it is worth 7 stars.
Everybody has a right to their own opinion however in my view this is one of the most gripping films I've seen. Gillian Anderson is brilliant as Emily Maitless and Rufus Sewell as Prince Andrew made the best of what must have been a very awkward part to play. The rest of the cast did a good job as well. The running time of 1 hour 42 mins passed so quickly. Once again Netflix triumphs so well done to them. It's not very often that there are decent tv and films around but thankfully this is definitely one of them in my humble opinion. I really found this production enjoyable. Well done to everyone involved.
