The giver is an attempt at a movie. The source material was difficult to adapt but the attempt hear was not it. The characters come off as one dimensional rather than mysterious especially jeff bridges who plays the title role. Now jeff bridges is a good actor being in such great films as the big Lebowski and true grit. Typically, the collaborations between him and the Coen brothers result in a fine quality of movie but when he works by himself the movies aren't as good. The female characters in this movie apart from Meryl Streep all look the same leading to some confusion over who is who. Along with Asher being one of the most forgettable characters in the whole movie this movie becomes very confusing over who is who.
