The raid director made this trash pile? The Raid is top tier, this movie is not comparable in any way. Weird!
Man, this was a low quality action flick with very few compelling moments and a horrifically bad story. It had this bizarre thing of having people get shot for too long? With dramatic sprays of blood that no other action filmmaker ever thought was necessary. Like riddled with bullets almost like the Tim and Eric parody skit CORBS (watch that, save yourself some time) yet took itself so seriously and was humorless.
This movie ripped off tons of far better movies. You know the nightclub shootout scenes in Collateral and John Wick 1? The barn shootout in LA confidential? Yeah so does this filmmaker but failed to remotely reproduce the quality. Hardy was probably least interesting he's ever been, he could be badass with a gritty action flick but with this lame story and character it was so meaningless, what a waste. I'm shocked TO and FW did this, it was beneath them.
There was a contrived nature to the action where absurdly, infuriatingly, the untrained outnumbered good guy group managed to make every single shot they took, dodge clouds of bullets and take down DOZENS of gangsters while taking no damage themselves. Star Wars stormtroopers are chuckling in tubs of popcorn right now, saying Come on bruh!
The premise was paper-thin, CGI or not, it was all equally inauthentic, you care about no one throughout the entire bloated runtime. This really sucked.

Naruto of all anime shows has the most intricate fascinating world building. The ancient Japan style world of the shinobi and the secret Arts of chakra are in the end the absolute best fight system in any battle shonen. There is so much complex, interesting detail in each characters jutsu, the fun Is simply finding out each one's weakness and strengths, and how it will interact in future fights. The action is so clean and satisfying. This is vastly superior to fight systems in say One Piece or Black Clover. A number of characters are some of the best characters ever written. Kakashi is probably the best anime character written of all time. Period. He is so incredibly cool and amazing to watch whether he's fighting or instructing. Also, you learn to love his English dubbed voice it's extremely comforting. Shikamaru the genius is another top level character, huge growth. There are so many bonuses hidden within the world building of this world for instance, to focus on the eyes and how different eyes have different special magical powers and enable their owners to do incredible almost Godlike. The music is powerful! The villains are fascinating. I skipped the filler first time around but then went back and honestly many were pretty great and some were snoozers.
One weird quirk, there is no humor. The show doesn't have a single laugh in 800 episodes of Naruto and Shippuden. One Piece is often LOL level in its mid arcs (sniper king!), but Naruto is just too serious and what it portrays as jokes are weak embarrassing displays.

Man they really rushed to just dump something out with as little effort as possible. Baki and Kengan Ashura are both animes that present nuanced, fascinating, heart pumping martial arts battles that span episodes and episodes and they crammed multiple fights into one hour non-feature length 60 minute thing. The concept is smart as Kengan is clearly influenced by Baki and I love both tournament fight shows, but the execution was sorely lacking, and the quality of animation was frankly amateur-ish even to the lower level of Baki and not remotely comparable to the incredible modern animation of Kengan Asura. Overall, it would've been better had they never done it cuz this was a bit of a stain on both franchises.
