Thanks to the collaboration between people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait, this film was able to be released on streaming platforms so quickly. Its style is very different from Lou Ye's previous works-it hardly feels like a traditional movie at all. It's more like a documentary or a vlog. The entire production takes place only in a hotel and a studio, which keeps costs low, but shooting in such confined spaces, combined with many video call scenes, is actually quite challenging.
The story does have tension at first, but later it turns into a monotonous sequence of events mixed with online video flashbacks. The narrative evokes memories of that particular time, creating a sense of resonance, but as the film progresses, that emotional connection gradually fades and becomes dull.
The whole film essentially relies on Qin Hao's performance to carry it. His acting is indeed solid and compelling-without it, the audience would likely find the film even more tedious.

The 1st half talks about the women's freedom, the 2nd half reveals scandals from unlawful baby trafficking. No more debates over whether the policy was right or wrong, since it took place for years and had caused a lot what it had caused. I show full respect to reporters who keeps track of stories and facts underneath the main voices. At least they provide valuable new insights and sparkling angles. God bless who suffered and sacrificed. In the end the grown up girl's muteness was stunning. Good news is she knows where he sister is and get to know her, but it remains helpless forever that her sister will no longer be her sister.
I leave critics over all movies and tv series in douban. Since this show is banned in China mainland, i will rate here. The show is rated 9. It's not about complex political competition. It's about ideally human rights advocates, LGBT + METOO campaign and self pursuit to own dreams as normal being. Also the plots and the campaign scenes are at best close to real. I love taiwan series and am amazed by their new developments these years. I had not been to taiwan and long for a chance to make a tour. The social culture and atmosphere is close to mainland and leading+open while reviving from preserved tradition.
