If you are a modern hipster, pretending to be sophisticated, different and non-conformist, you will probably enjoy this "movie". Or at least you will lie to your hipster friends that you did and you will go on about discussing Wes Anderson's "unique style" and a bunch of other such cliches. If you are a person who enjoys movies which actually have a plot, make sense, and something happens between the start and the end - don't bother watching this, you will not like it. The only saving grace is Benicio's (and his daughter's) good acting, but that's pretty much about it and not nearly enough to even warrant the existence of this piece of... cinematic stuff.
The show's overall production - sets, costumes, historical accuracy, depiction of culture, etc. - is absolutely superb. The casting and acting are absolutely brilliant! The only exception is Cosmo Jarvis as Blackthorne. For one, he doesn't look like the character described in the book, and also his acting is quite stiff and one-dimensional. You really can't see the arch he's going through in the book. The rest of the cast, especially Anna Sawai (as Mariko) and Tadanobu Asano (as Yabu) are amazing.
I really wanted to give it higher than 7, because in almost all aspects it deserves it, but it feels too rushed - why did they have to cram everything into a single season of 10 episodes?!? That is the beauty of series - you can spread out the content into more episodes (or even seasons) - so why did they have to barely touch the surface of a book with an amazing depth.
Right now, especially if you haven't read the book, you really can't feel and understand the depth of the characters as you are supposed to.
All of the main characters in the books have tremendous depth, backstories, layered personalities and motivations, which all intertwine together in the larger plot web. In the show you don't get to experience any of this, simple because they didn't leave enough time.
Even the main protagonists/antagonists are sort of lacking - not enough time for Torranaga's character, not enough time for Mariko's character, not enough time for Yabu's character, and certainly not enough time for Blackthorne's character.
Actually entire factions have been almost fully omitted, like the Jesuits and the other Portuguese, who otherwise play a really key part in the whole story and struggle for power. Father Alvito is an absolutely key character in the book, but in the show he's diminished to an obedient interpreter with a couple of minutes of screen time.
It is very disappointing, because everything else is so great, that the only thing we actually need is MORE of it.
P. S. The other thing I couldn't understand is why they made changes to some of the names?

This is an absolute masterpiece! I am a huge fan of the franchise and it is one of my favorite movies ever, so I would never use this term lightly, especially for a video game, and especially for an Indiana Jones video game, as I would expect only the highest of standard and would scrutinize every little detail. Yet, they have managed to pull it off and do the impossible - an impeccable game in every aspect!
Amazing script, story, and direction; mesmerizing graphics and level/world design; perfect casting and acting; extremely engaging, fun, smart, witty, full of real historical knowledge; and the oozing charisma of Mr. Henry Jones Jr. Himself!
It really brought me into the golden age of Indiana and Spielberg. I still can't believe it, but they really did absolutely everything right! Heck, I would go as far as to say it is innovative and with it, they are setting a new standard for how games in this genre should look and feel like.
I thought it was going to be another Bethesda flop and garbage, after so many recent disappointments, but man did they nail it - absolutely brilliant!
