I really like this type of classic, they don't do these types of films anymore, raw, with cool dynamics, and a lot of effort in the action scenes with the cars, but mostly a great " skills " based real concept of a movie.
Drivers like these existed for real, and they were the ones that made a big difference once you ended up on the streets. The best thing I can say is that the concept of movies like these is important for developing more complicated ones, and films like these in the 70's shaped the future of action movies.
Stepping outside this, I have to be very cold and honest, 99% of the acting is lower than amatourish, from the main cop, that want to act smart and tuff at the same time, but looks like a scared office worked that has no spine, the girl that has this sad mask face on her like someone told her to look dumb as a rock and un-interesting at the same time, she did literally nothing in the entire movie, the ispanic actor, that should be " "tuff" and the one that knows how to persuade people just by the look, but is clear he dont have a clue either to hold a gun, or even be convincing about anything he is saying. Why give all these roles to people that clearly don't belong in such a movie? How many talented small actors could have done anything for a part of a movie like this?
The only good thing here is the main actor, the driver is well known actor that probably was the only reason why this movie was made, i wish they were a bit more real when come to the punches, i mean you dont have to punch people for real, but at least make it feel like you did it, it was way too fake, on the point where everything got very hilarous.
Is one of those movies where you are watching and thinking.. who the hell did the casting? The producers who gave parts to all of his friends?
Wasted chance, but such a cool concept of a movie, could have been a masterpiece of the late 70's.
