Great acting, writing, direction, costume, sets, sound design, music.
A touching and tragic story.
Oddly, at the Fantasia Film Festival about 20% of the audience was laughing and cackling like hyenas throughout the screening and were drowning out some important dialog and beats. To be sitting in an audience with so many psychopaths was kind of frightening. But then I suppose that it was apt given the plot of the film.
The director was present and I felt bad for her about the bizarre audience reaction.
I certainly wish I had seen it with a less disturbing/disturbed audience.
It was truly a very good film from start to finish.
I am glad I saw it and I was deeply impressed by every aspect of the production.
It was a real gem and along with several other recent Canadian independent films it gives me great optimism about contemporary filmmaking.
