Solo Leveling Season 2 has been full of beautifully animated fights. What makes this episode different from the rest? It's very clear most of the anime's budget went into this episode. The Animation, Choreography, and overall direction of this episode is phenomenal, but it doesn't matter. Animation and direction can only enhance the story visually. Therefore with an average story to tell, even the greatest animation and direction can't make a masterpiece.
Solo Leveling's plot has been the same throughout the show. It follows the basic plot of: New "normal" dungeon, Oh no! Dungeon change! Super strong enemy only Jinwoo can defeat appears! Defeats enemy without casualty!
The show's plot essentially follows a "villain of the week" formula, and this episode is no exception. While some may find this entertaining, how many times can it remain entertaining? If the show continues in this manner without developing a deeper storyline, I'm certain it won't be remembered in 10 years.
A good fight should feel intense. A good fight should make you question who's going to make it out alive; who's not. Because Solo leveling is a villain of the week type show, you will always know who'll live. This creates no stakes and sends the intensity into a downward spiral leaving nothing left but astonishing animation. This episode is no exception.
Characters are often the foundation of a story. "A truly legendary character can be the cornerstone of what makes a show unforgettable." Solo leveling doesn't have a single character worth mentioning unless talking about power scaling.
When reviews says "his newfound powers are portrayed with nuance and depth." I question if they even know what they are talking about.
In conclusion, Solo leveling is basic. Without memorable characters, stakes/intensity, and it having the same plot over and over again, Solo Leveling can never be a masterpiece. I much prefer a show with bland animation and a good story over great animation and no story.

This show is written so cheaply, it makes me sick. I understand that comedy is subjective, but if you are past the mental maturity of a twelve year old, this show will have you straight faced throughout.
Plot progression and development is a major role in making a show great. Unfortunately, this show is void of it. The series frequently prioritizes flashy action sequences and absurd comedic moments over meaningful story advancement.
The characters themselves have no meaningful development and are one-dimensional. This lack of depth makes it challenging to empathize with their struggles or become invested in their arcs, as there is little growth or complexity to their personalities.
The show also lacks a compelling antagonist, which further undermines its ability to create stakes. Without a central opposing force or meaningful conflict, the narrative feels aimless and devoid of tension. This absence makes it difficult to establish a sense of urgency or purpose, leaving the story feeling flat and inconsequential.
In conclusion this show has no meaning. If you want to watch a show where thinking ruins the experience, then this is the show for you. If you want something more meaningful with depth, plot, development, conflict, and real characters, this is not the place for you.
The series feels like a collection of spectacles rather than a narrative with substance or depth.

Let me start by saying this episode is not bad at all. The soundtrack was beautiful, animation was great, and the storytelling of this episode was nothing short of a great episode.
This episode is Excellent, but comparing to other episodes like episode 278 of one piece or perfect game from attack on titan its clear which is better.
Episode 275 -278 of one piece, are some of the best backstory episodes ever produced in anime. With a buildup of 100+ episodes, it does not disappoint. Dandadan, however, drops this backstory in episode 7. This is not a bad thing, But comparing it to episode 278; it isn't close.
The only real problem I have with this episode is not the episode itself but rather its rating. Upon writing this review this episode has received a rating of 9.8/10 the same rating as Re; (code Geass) Perfect game (Aot) and even Saul gone (Better call Saul) as well as many other masterpiece episodes from animation and live action.
This episode has been given a near perfect rating, meaning it should be a near perfect episode. Unfortunately it falls short of a masterpiece, and is JJK level of overrated. I wanted to enjoy and rate this as a masterpiece, but the bar was set to high for a simple backstory episode with an uninteresting antagonist.
This episode is good but not worthy of 9.8/10 or the title of masterpiece.
