Though the source novel was firmly set in the 1980s, Matthau's film adaptation takes a creative turn into the 1970s. This shift adds a visually engaging layer with its vibrant array of costumes, classic cars, and distinct locations, all wrapped in a delightful 70s kitsch aesthetic.
