If you loved the feel of Disney's Tarzan, you'll love this. It is a jaw-droppingly beautiful combination of 3D environments and traditionally animated characters.
The story is very touching and a very interesting take on environmental issues, without trying to be political in any way. The humor is very subtle, but very on point.
Story-wise, there was quite a few surprises, but the biggest ones come at the end, but like Hansel and Gretel we're given clues all along the way that explains the absolutely incredible ending!
I will say this, it did not end the way I wanted it to, but I guess that makes sense when you're going for a bit more realism in the fantasy genre - you'll see what I mean. It's still a VERY happy ending and this is so worth the watch.
100% recommended if you're an anime and classic Disney fan!

SUPER cute and I loved the accents. It's a very typical "othering" story and how we have more in common than we think.
Absolutely a recommend and very entertaining.
If you're looking for a movie you can turn on for the kids at a party or to watch something light hearted for the evening, this is something that you want to turn on.
The animation is up to standard. The story is good. The humor is very clever and plays into many classic stereotypes with the Jersey accent and is very clever in it's use of scale. It is also quite heart warming and tugs on those heart strings in just the right amount.
My only criticism would be that you do need a little background in accent stereotypes to really enjoy the subtext, but if you do, you'll love it!

I was pleasantly surprised that it wasn't as bad as many people made it out to be.
It has all the ingredients of a good movie, but misses the mark when it comes to delivery. It's like it just didn't manage to reach what Sony was hoping for, but their concepts and ideas around life on the phone was actually very well thought out.
This movie does NOT deserve the hate it gets - not by a long shot, but it's also not one I would recommend, because it didn't reach what it was aiming for. Definitely a missed opportunity.
If you're curious and wanna check it out - at worst, you'd be a bored. At best, you'll find that you actually like it and some of the humor in it somewhat.
