Well, this was a step away from what I'd describe as the standard bond films. It was enjoyable but way too many panoramic drawn out scenes, for example where it just showed bond and company driving. Dragged on.
Due to it being so long a film there was a fair share of action scenes but again too many dragged out action free scenes. Maybe it was to connect with bond as a character but trying to do this on any emotional level too much isn't what bond is about. And the action scenes themselves seemed very short lived.
The ending strayed away from the normal but loveable cliche bond style. A complete let down. Normally there's some form of bond vs bad guy or bad guys henchman fight which didn't happen, again another major letdown.
I liked the approach to pushing female/black actors as main characters but the "new 007" (while bond isn't with MI5) seemed too forceful and PC. Almost like they wanted to tick all boxes and in my opinion, ultimately failed by using this approach. It was like they wanted to inadvertently cause controversy.
Worth a watch but not what I personally wanted.
Take me back to the smooth talking, suave and very skilled bond. That's what I want from a bond film. No time to die could have been so much better.
It'll be interesting to see where theu go next with the bind franchise. Kind of opens too many doors for my liking.
