A Clockwork Orange is my favourite movie of all time and I doubt that'll ever change. Stanley Kubrick perfected the adaptation of the novel, which I also greatly enjoyed, with the protagonist's absurd narration and the eerie atmosphere of the dystopian world. The set design is shown immediately from the first shot in all its odd but genius glory, which introduces us to one of cinema's most vile and horrific characters. The classical music, Beethoven in particular, adds depth to every scene, further captivating the audience with Alex's world of crime and brutality. As usual, Kubrick's direction is otherworldly, but especially in this movie. Each shot, each scene, and each sequence is important and basically perfect. It provides an engrossing introduction to the main characters, a slower yet meaningful middle, and an interpretive conclusion that continues to shock and dumbfound people decades after its release. A Clockwork Orange is darkly hilarious, deeply disturbing, riveting and captivating from the very first shot to the very last, and is unlike anything else. Absolute perfection.
Kiss the Girls is a serial killer thriller film starring Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd. To me, it's a slightly above mediocre thriller, mostly because of the performances from the two protagonists. While it is generally intense and disturbing like the plot leads it to be, some parts came off as over-the-top and more action packed than anything in my opinion. Maybe a little bit silly. However, I did enjoy the eerie music in the movie, which is subtle but noticeable, as well as Cary Elwes' performance and the plot twist is a relatively shocking one. But at the end of the day, it is a fun thrill ride but nothing much more. In conclusion, Kiss the Girls isn't anything special like Se7en or Saw (for example) but it should be an enjoyable watch for thriller enthusiasts.
