This drama is not by any means a complex nor action packed story and I would liken the plot to a YA novel, due to its idol based plot, 'completely average' female lead, and the overall feel and concept of the story. Maybe it's because YA novels have a special place in my heart, but I found the show fun and entertaining. There are a number of idol tropes that make this show feel a bit like a spoof but not in a bad way, as it adds to the comedic nature of the story. The audience does also get some character development and heart warming moments between the CEO-dol Mart cast (former Thunder Boys group members and FL).

This series has mystery, romance, and humor in equal measure. While it has some of the most typical kdrama tropes; an office romcom that features a rich/ aloof ML and friendly/hardworking/poor Fl? I mean it doesn't really get anymore cliché, but this series still has its own flavor.

I gave this series an 8/10 because it had some parts that felt slow for no reason and a few minor details that felt could have been more seamless but it was entertaining overall and unlike many shows I didn't have to force myself to finish it.

Additionally, it was nice to see the leads of Bossam: Steal the Fate (a show that I adore!) transform in this series.

Would def recommend if you like shows like What's Wrong with Secretary Kim and Backstreet Rookie.

This series has nearly everything: good acting, beautiful cinematography, a blockbuster worthy soundtrack, amazing sound design, and intriguing storyline (reincarnation, found family, folklore/ fantasy, enemies to lovers/ will they won't they, action, thriller, horror, crime, a mix of period and contemporary storylines, and more).

When I went to rewatch the series I was anticipating that it wouldn't withstand the expectations I had created from my memory of the first time I had watched it. However, it was after rewatching Bulgasal in its entirety that I was compelled to write this review as it surpassed my expectations, which is one of the reasons I gave it a perfect 10/10 despite my recognition that the series is not "flawless". To me Bulgasal is perfection and I cannot recommend it enough, I would scream it on the rooftops if anyone would listen.

If you like a unique and unpredictable storyline, fantasy/ folklore, or found family, then I would highly recommend the series. Even if you aren't the biggest fan of thriller, horror, crime, or action I still highly recommend that you watch this as I am not the biggest fan them either and this series still captured my heart. I have no doubt that this show will remain as a favorite for years to come.
