This season was a successful attempt at a hard reset. With Justin Roiland being replaced by any other actor, I feared some of the vulnerability and versatility of the characters would be lost. I'm pleased to say I worried for nothing. By the 5th or 6th episode, I had all but forgotten the change. Dan Stevens really knocks it out of the park as Korvo and his chemistry with Terry (Thomas Middleditch) is fantastic.
I appreciate that they had a deliberate focus on family and individual relationship story lines this season. I love the use of Sci-Fi to make those relationships grow and flourish.
On to B plots. I could take or leave the Silver Cops arc/episode honestly. Even Sci-Fi can't make me care about Glen, though I do appreciate all the little gags about his love for his car and the Fast and Furious movies. I'm sure this will work for someone, I just don't think I'm the particular audience for that kind of side story.
The plots in the wall felt a little thin this season but still exciting. I find myself to continue to be very invested in the characters, especially Cherie. I enjoyed the addition of Montez. The writers subverted my expectations in how he works serve the narrative, and I appreciate that.
Overall, another great season! I can't wait for season 5.
