I really struggle with this episode. As a stand-alone I think maybe it's just below passable - every queen is entertaining and the banter is cute but the challenge is... not it. The judges don't seem to really know what they're looking for, asking for goth but preferring what is essentially high fashion clothes in black and white. Contestants aren't penalised for not participating in the challenge - if you can't sew, that's fine, but you deserve to lose the sewing challenge! The lip sync song choice was awful... and I struggled to enjoy the rushed, reused petal reveal and the lack of second wig or even comedy moment to pair with it. With all that said, the same queen gave a great performance that deserved to stay. However, this is not consistent with judging in the rest of the season, where a better performer has been sent home in favour of track record. It's really frustrating because production has clearly made choices to show queens in a bad light and then keep them around, knowing the hate they will receive. If we're keeping people with better track records, let's do it every time. If we're keeping the better lip syncer, let's do it every time. It's a shame because this season has been stellar, but this episode just has so many shortcomings and strange decisions made that it's tough to enjoy.
