I figured I'd put on a movie my girlfriend might enjoy - so we ended up watching The Man in the Moon on Prime.
I expected a film that skillfully and relatably explores young love with a bit of family drama mixed in. Not exactly my genre, but if it's well done, I'm open to it.
But... it was kind of weird. The movie feels like a patchwork of on-the-nose scenes, delivered with little flair and often bloated acting. Everything drags by stiffly, and the film seems content with showing the next plot beat in the most basic way possible - like a beginner's project.
At first, I thought maybe it was just the editing style - which can feel dated over the years - but then I remembered T2 came out around the same time. So, not sure what went wrong.
Clunky stuff. Watch at your own risk.
