It started really slowly and never got better. The ending was interesting but didn't justify the poor storytelling, insufficient character development and bad dialogue. The acting was good, but there was no chemistry. My favourites were the dogs and the moms.
The family dynamics had potential, the failed marriages, the sibling rivalry, the unmet expectations, all remained under developed. It was a cliche after a cliche. Parents pitting their kids against each other, disapproving of their partners, and wanting to dictate their lives, why can't there be any nuance?
The main character had the mannerisms of Elena Gilbert in s6 of TVD and the manners of Blair Waldorf if her soul was sucked out by a dementor. It was like watching a fan fiction turned into a movie with great visuals and a solid costume budget.

Initially I thought there were too many characters, but they were fleshed out really well and all had a part to play. At the end I wouldn't have taken anyone out. The chemistry between Mia and Kieran was a bit off, it wasn't until Liv came into the picture I understood that was intentional.
It's not really a whodunnit, so don't expect a great deal of mystery. It's a story of loss and how a small town deals with its grief. The family dynamics, the old friendships, the aesthetic made this an enjoyable watch. It was real, vulnerable and relatable. If you have a spare afternoon, give this show a try.
