This seems to have been a script by committee, so it's mostly clumsy (and long) narrative dumps punctuated by action scenes. I guess I was naive to think there might be more character development. What little there is had negligible impact on me which is unfortunate because I really liked these characters in the first movie.

We did get to see Quhyn at least and, understandably, she's not a happy camper. I liked her scenes with Theron's Andy. Uma Thurman is a terrific villain. I enjoyed the fight choreography until the climactic battle. I would be very happy to never see another helicopter in an action movie climax. At this point they trigger only eye rolls from me.

Given that I have a weakness for Matthias Schoerharts gorgeous eyes and Charlize swinging a labrys, I will generously give this disappointing movie 5 stars.

Sometimes a movie can be so bad it's good. That is not this movie. It's just awful through and through. The story is ludicrous. The script is terrible. It is emotionally manipulative. The pacing is clunky. The songs with their agenda-ridden lyrics are flat and forgettable (and all feel French). All of the characters, with the exception of Zoe Saldana's Rita, are beyond unlikable. Saldana herself looks exhausted working valiantly through this muck, and Gascon too is a trouper. The cinematography is dreary. It's hard for me to find anything redeeming about this movie. They were clearly trying to tell an edgy story through a faux musical format. I give them one star for ambition and one each for Saldana and Gascon but nothing more. It's hard to understand why this film is garnering awards apart from the fact that it focuses on the journey of a trans character, which has been done much better elsewhere on cable and streamers.

Worse line in a 21st century movie: The drug boss, approached by a survivor of a victim of a massacres (possibly ordered by her): "When she kissed my hand, I felt her tears, and for the first time I loved myself."

Yeah, that's right lady, it's all about you. Ugh.

"Me, Myself and Her" is a terrific relationship dramedy that shows the joys of a solid relationship and the toll that being closeted can take on even the strongest of bonds. It has witty and intelligent dialogue, outstanding (and beautiful) actresses, nice cinematography (still the exception in lesbian films, alas), plus the scenic backdrop of Italy too! This movie delves into serious relationship issues, but there is humor throughout and at least two big belly laughs. I like the time it took to show how the relationship worked and, conversely, the work it took for the couple to resolve their issues. Even though the relationship issues are universal, this movie would obviously be of special interest to lesbian and gay couples. I enjoyed it very much.
