When i first saw the Trailer for Mickey 17, i couldnt wait to see the Movie. With an action packed Version of "Aint that a Kick in the head" as its underlying tune i thought of it as an evil, fun , socially critical Sci-Fi version of Groundhog Day.
And yes, the movie takes on many social, political themes. But even though the whole movie felt pretty long for me, it doenst show to have much depth in the end. And yes, there were some funny moments sprinkled here and there, but many of them didnt just click for me.
Nevertheless im more than ready to give this movie a 7/10. Why? Because Robert Pattinson shows again of what hes capable off! I beginning to believe this man can play anything. From a light hearted idiot in one scene, to a total maniac in another. So for him, this movie is a nice addition to his portfolio.

This series cleared the way for more great storytelling by adapting videogame-storys.
There's been a little history with videogame to movie adaptations. This history is mainly driven by moneyhungry producers who just wanted to earn money by using names of beloved videogames like Mortal Combat, Far Cry & more. While the new Halo-series shows this is still a thing, The last of us brings some fresh air into the business. Not only by truly sticking to the source material, but also by using the starpower of Pedro Pascal ( I mean, this man owns the Daddy-Meme now.)
Altough i love the game, and maybe i'm nitpicking here, i expected a little more from the series. This was ( at most parts ) a 1 on 1 adaptation. And i guess thats what most of the fans wanted, but for me this could've been a great opportunity to give the whole story even more depth. This whole series felt a little rushed in some way ( making sense, if you think about it: If you cut the gameplay out of the whole experience, of course it feels kinda short.)
Nevertheless, the story is still a great one, and i can't wait for the next season ( Hoping they add some new storyparts here and there).

The first ten minutes had me all in for the main character, played by Ryan Gosling. I wanted to see more of his actuel work as a Stunt Man, rather than him flirting with (or later on reminiscing of) his affair with Emily Blunts character. Speaking of Emily Blunt (whos a rather good actress if given the right source material), she seems pretty wasted on this film. Not that she doesnt have any chemistry with Ryan Gosling whatsoever, but her character also seems unnessery for the whole premise. Its like the whole love plot is forced on the viewer. Gosling's character embarks on a mission to find the main actor of the movie he's working on. And while he's investigating, we're forced to watch a pointless phone call between these two characters. And thats not the only time this happens. On and on we're reminded this movie is more a love story than a movie about Fall Guy. The best part of the movie is summed up in about 15~20 minutes. These are the minutes that are actually devoted to stuntwork. The most entertaining part to best honest, were the final credits.
So what could have been a beautiful homage to stuntwork and its unknown heroes endep up as a rather bleak romantic comedy.
