James Gunn has done it again, his style is still unmatched even after all this years and copycats along the way. The way he write characters has only improve in every new project he makes, he manages to balance goofy with tragic for every main character and villan, and this is the best example yet (with that crazy and heartbreaking final plot twist), especially Dr Phosporus and The Bride, they were totally the best characters in the entire show, not only as protagonist, but as a way to expand the DCU. One negative I have with the show is that the actual plot felt that it wasn't going anywhere until the final episode, and that Nina and Frankenstein didn't advance much as characters (aside from their flashbacks). Hopefully now that the team is already stablished, they will focus more on develop them more in future seasons.
This show's energy is unmatched, when 90% of modern adult cartoons are Family Guy/Rick and Morty rip-offs, is nice to see an actual creative work, obviously it isn't for everyone, but that's the point, it's 100% aware of what it is and doesn't try to present itself as a brillant master piece of comedy, it's just a funny show.
It's also worth to point out the animation style, it's all over the place, in a good way, a lot of the gags are just the animation itself, a way a character looks, how it moves, how it contrast with other characters, etc. The show mix a lot of animation styles flawlessly, instead of just being stiff and boring like other shows.
