This episode keeps tension alive and plays well with uncertainty. Ubbe and his group arriving in new lands brings both excitement and vulnerability, as they clearly feel like outsiders in an unknown world. The ending, with the tribe aiming their bows at them, delivers a powerful cliffhanger that builds anticipation for what's next. The good part is how the show balances exploration with danger, making every moment feel meaningful. The downside is that the pacing slows in some parts, feeling more like buildup, but the suspense and almost mystical atmosphere raise the episode, earning that solid 9.
This episode brings back much-needed action, with a battle that feels like a breath of fresh air after several calmer installments. The fight restores the intensity that has always defined the series, something that was definitely missing. On top of that, the ending with Ubbe spotting land works as a strong hook-a mix of hope and mystery that keeps the viewer eager for what's next. The downside is that, while the battle is exciting, it doesn't drastically shift the overall story; it feels more like an in-between step than a major leap forward. Still, the balance between action and transition makes it a solid 8.
I just finished episode 16, "The Final Straw," and I'm giving it a 7. It felt like a good transition episode, setting the stage for the return to action. I really enjoyed seeing Ivar back on his home turf, but this time with a different mindset.
The standout moment, without a doubt, is Ivar's speech at the end. Seeing him in front of his warriors, motivating them to go to England, felt like a return to the series' essence. This Ivar is more cunning and self-assured. The scene makes you feel the urgency and danger of what's coming.
However, I felt the rest of the episode was a bit slow. The other characters' storylines, like Ubbe and Torvi's at sea, felt a little stalled. The action I was expecting from Ivar's return was saved for the very end. Still, it's a necessary chapter that sets the stage for the big final conflict.
