I'm a cosmic horror fanatic and read this was in the genre so had to give it a shot. I've seen a lot of low budget cosmic horror that did an amazing job so it's not the budget that's the problem with this one.
Nothing happens. And I say this as someone who loves slow burns and simple settings.
I don't know that I've ever seen a movie that has so little happen.
The little that does happen has no explaination, no tie to anything, no substance, no point.
This is also not cosmic horror. Or horror. Or thriller. Or...anything. It doesn't do enough of anything to fit any genre.
Its *painfully* boring.
The few attempts at being spooky or interesting are juvenile at best.
I'm not sure there was an actual plot written for this. There is no sign of one. Something about mushrooms.

Some people think that one of the lead's over the top characters is a flaw. But it's not. It's intentional. And until you watch the entire show you will not understand that.
Yes, the character is hard to stomach at first.
But her character is a representation, and if you stick with it, and let the story unfold, you'll see that.
This is one of the greatest series I've ever watched.
And DEF the best, if only, truly feminist series ever created. When I hear people praise the Barbie movie I recoil and scoff and send them to watch Deadloch.
It shows women as main characters, with all the depth, complexity, and nuance they deserve but never recieve. It's hilarious and triumphant. It's heartbreaking and moving.
And it doesn't pull punches. The kind of punches that need to be made.
It flips the tables and makes the viewer uncomfortable watching those tables flipped, brilliantly.
It uses the word patriarchy. Which until watching, I had never seen the word uttered on screen.
And i think my favorite aspect is how it blatantly reveals intersectionality of mysogyny, racism, and collonialism, which is crucial, yet always gets left out in other stories about oppressive systems.
It's whole. It's complete. In ways no other show I've ever seen do in regards to the social constructs and oppression it speaks on.
The parts of the show that make people annoyed, or uncomfortable, is strategic.
From the moment the first table is flipped and a naked dead man is shown, you know this is going to be something you've never seen before. And the way it continues to defy all tropes and formulas you've ever seen will have your head twisted in a way that by the end you'll realize it's not twisting you out of whack. It's twisting it so you can see things clearer.

This was so surprisingly good I'm left kind of speechless honestly.
I thought the first one was a solid horror film. And had no intention of seeing the second one because the reviews weren't good, the preview didn't look good, and sequels tend to always be bad.
I watched this because there was nothing else to watch.... and was blown away.
This is exactly what sequels should be, a level up on the original. It had that strange unique edge and creativity as the first one, but turned up in every way.
The kind of sequel that makes the first film *better* , because it's now the first part of a bigger, more incredible tale. The first level to something that was meant to keep intensifying.
The sound is ridiculously good. Every sound is unsettling and immeduately shows you that you that the first film was the beginning of a bigger descent into madness. Its clear that this film is where reality is going to start to dissolve
This sequel shows that the writer/director was not just making one horror film for us that they decoded to add on to, but always had a vision of a whole universe they wanted to plunge us into, and has every skill and right to create it. The attention to detail, the smoothness, the intensity, the kitch and the humor, and the true horror, the *levels*, they are painting is something not often found.
Bravo.
The end was so clever and I cannot imagine what kind of fresh hell it could possibly unleash if there is a part 3 coming, but oh god I hope there is a part 3.
It doesn't *need* a part 3, it could perfectly cleverly end as it is. Just like the first one didnt * need* a sequel. But if the writer has in their head what could come next, the same way they clearly had to have had this in their head when they made the first one...I have GOT to see what they have in store.
I'd normally be afraid that to take something like this another level up would not be possible without failing, but if they do keep going, and pull it off, I can only imagine we are in for a cosmic horror treat the likes few have seen.
I feel like I've taken acid and don't want it to end, I want to see just how far this can go.
